The last part of a strong run can accelerate, and waiting for a close below an EMA can give back a chunk of the profit. I'm willing to sacrifice some potential upside to reduce the drawdown from the peak. There's also a behavioral reason: after a drawdown I can start revenge trading or overtrading to make the money back, and that can turn a normal drawdown into a deeper one. I'm trying to avoid putting myself in that position.
