Should I trade the small countertrend moves inside a larger trend?

Every trader has their own style, entry tactics, and timeframes. But if you're trading the small countertrend, you may be earning only part of the profit for double the effort. If you can trade the bigger trend, why bother trying to nail a 3% move instead of a 30% move, unless you have a really big edge in those countertrend trades?
