I'd say two or three years. I've never had a down year since 2020: I tripled my account in the first four months after opening my brokerage account, then had a 50% drawdown in 2021, but I made more than 50% in January 2021, so the year was still green. I definitely did not consider myself profitable by then. The exact time depends on how much time you devote to trading and your personality—especially how quickly you learn from mistakes.
