Execution & Stops

I went long CRWD at 10:50 on October 22 and was stopped out right at the open today. Was my stop too tight?

No, not really. That is part of the game. With a tight stop you will definitely have a higher chance of getting shaken out. The more important thing is whether you can identify it and find a re-entry after the shakeout. It is just unfortunate that it barely hit your stop. Taking the five-minute breakout would also have been a decent entry, a little wider than your original one but still less than 1.5%. Yours was around a 1% stop, so I don't think it is better to widen it. If you are setting a really tight stop, like 0.5%, then maybe you can widen it a little. This is also a good example to study, because technically it could have been a short: a pretty deep pullback, a first bounce into the declining 9 and 21, and then CRWD broke out to the upside today, a failed breakdown. To me the major reason is sector strength. Technically it was a really clean gap-up rally into the declining EMAs that found resistance, but it was the wrong stock in the wrong sector. It was also still above the daily 50, and the rejection at the 21 was above the weekly 9. If you keep observing failed breakdowns and breakouts like this, especially with clean entries, you will get plenty of takeaways and avoid a lot of traps.
